Annual salary to hourly
To calculate an hourly rate from salary, divide annual salary by your total working hours in the year. This is how to convert annual salary into hourly rate before taxes.
Hourly rate = Annual salary ÷ (Hours per week × Weeks per year)
$60,000 ÷ (40 × 52) = $28.85 per hour
Hourly to annual salary
To convert hourly pay to an annual salary, multiply the hourly rate by your weekly hours and the number of weeks you work per year.
Annual salary = Hourly rate × Hours per week × Weeks per year
$25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000 per year
These gross-pay examples assume 40 hours per week and 52 weeks per year.

Offer planning
An annual salary is only one part of employee compensation. A contractor may need to fund benefits, equipment, software, insurance, accounting, and time that cannot be billed to a client.
That is why dividing salary by 2,080 hours alone may not produce a sustainable contractor quote. The comparison above estimates a gross planning amount; it is not a market quote, a tax calculation, or financial advice.
At 40 hours per week and 52 weeks per year, $60,000 a year is about $28.85 per hour before taxes.
Divide annual salary by hours per week, then divide by weeks worked per year. The formula is: annual salary ÷ hours per week ÷ weeks per year.
Multiply the hourly rate by hours per week and weeks worked per year. The formula is: hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year.
No. All results are gross pay before taxes. Taxes depend on your country, region, and personal circumstances.
No. Biweekly pay usually means 26 pay periods per year, while semimonthly pay usually means 24. This calculator’s biweekly equivalent is weekly pay × 2.
No. The currency selection changes the symbol and number formatting only. It does not convert exchange rates.
Account for benefits, business costs, non-billable time, and a risk or profit markup. Do not compare only the employee base hourly equivalent with a contractor offer. This tool provides a gross planning estimate, not tax or financial advice.
